From a Graduate: Personalized Learning Is What Every Student Deserves

When Dulce Diaz chose to pursue her Master’s in education policy at the University of Washington in Seattle, she was driven by the belief that “more students deserve access to the kind of education that I had.” Her opportunities in the competency-based environment at Lindsay Unified School District included:

  • Learning how she learned, and how to make meaningful connections to what mattered to her
  • Demonstrating what she knew and knew how do go beyond just taking a test
  • Learning to collaborate with others and to embrace diversity
  • Learning to be self-directed and reflective
